The Legendary Nummela Airmotel Makes a Comeback – Hiisi Homes & Hotel Nummela Opens in Winter 2026

Steeped in Finnish aviation and entertainment history, the Nummela Airmotel is undergoing a complete transformation. Joining forces with local entrepreneurs, this old landmark is being brought back to life as Kruunuremontti handles the full renovation and we bring in the keyless, contactless Hiisi everyday experience. Opening in winter 2026–2027, Hiisi Homes & Hotel Nummela will combine flexible temporary homes and a modern smart hotel under one roof for the very first time.

For decades, the Nummela airfield’s Airmotel was known as a base for pilots and a hub for live music amidst beautiful ridge landscapes. Now, the property is owned by a new company formed by the Vuorma brothers from Kruunuremontti, and we at Hiisi are stepping in as the accommodation operator.

A Long-Awaited Dream Come True for the “Hiisi Founding Homies”

For Hiisi’s founding entrepreneurs, the original “three Homies”, this project is exceptionally personal. Our Real Estate Director, Ari Lapveteläinen, remembers the early stages warmly:

“We first sat at the Airmotel negotiating table back in 2018. Hiisi was just taking its first steps, and we had no chance of buying the building ourselves. However, the property haunted our minds. When we later heard the building had suffered from vandalism, we feared it would be demolished. Fortunately, the Kruunuremontti brothers stepped in and proved the demolition rumors wrong. Personally, I am incredibly happy to bring this familiar landmark back to its former glory before I retire.”

Our CEO, Niklas Eriksson, is just as excited: “In addition to being a local Nummela boy, I also danced at my own wedding here at the Airmotel years ago. When the opportunity arose to revive this familiar landmark together with the Kruunuremontti brothers, the decision was immediate. It’s amazing to offer a cozy accommodation solution for the gig workers and travelers coming to work in this area.”

A Hybrid Concept to Solve the Western Uusimaa Data Center Boom

Western Uusimaa, and the Vihti area in particular, is currently seeing historic billion-euro investments, most notably the Microsoft data center project. This will bring a massive amount of project workforce to the region.

“The local accommodation supply will be truly put to the test in the coming years,” says our Commercial Director, Markus Veikkolainen. “Airmotel is a logistically perfect base for these everyday heroes. We offer smart square meters, functional laundry facilities, and that all-important free parking for work vans, so the workers can focus on what matters.”

Thanks to our fully digital customer journey, residents can arrive effortlessly on their own schedule, without queuing at a reception. Our new hybrid property offers two solutions under one roof:

32 smart hotel rooms for short-term needs. Rooms include private fridges, and residents share access to a communal kitchen, dining area, and laundry room.
8 temporary homes with their own kitchens and washing machines. These are perfectly suited for longer stays, such as during construction projects or water damage repairs.

Future Facilities and the Search for a Restaurant Entrepreneur

The property owners and developers, the Kruunuremontti brothers, are renovating the spaces with a long-term, sustainable vision. The facilities are being rebuilt to be comfortable and highly functional, serving guests far into the future.

Our goal is to open the first part of the hotel at the beginning of December 2026. Since we at Hiisi focus entirely on our core expertise—accommodation—we are currently looking for a separate restaurant entrepreneur to take over the restaurant space for spring 2027.
